My resolution for 2010 was to start being a bit more 'involved' in all things web...
It's a source of a little bit of shame that at 25 and as a professional marketer, I've only just stopped rejecting the web as 'not for me'. I mean I'm addicted to search, I ask Google everything I ever wonder, and I'm on Facebook of course, but the web has always been a place for relative passivity.
It's taken a few months of watching with increased interest the online exploits of my friends who work in trendy media-type companies, and reading more and more 'why web 2.0 matters' type articles in the marketing press (and i think maybe even the term web 2.0 is massively outdated now...), and frankly, the loss of my favourite colleague to another company (and therefore needing a new place to send the interesting links I come across) to convince me that there are other reasons to be here than the amusing but ultimately pointless world of detagging unflattering Facebook pictures, reading random blogs, and following Stephen Fry on Twitter.
I know the number one piece of advice is always to have a purpose for your blog before you start writing... well so far I'm breaking that rule, but I'm sure a purpose will evolve as I work on developing Brand Cat. Next stop... Twitter (@catreenie)
